An advertising campaign was designed to support Salt & Straw in its expansion into L.A. while also reminding current customers in Portland of its commitment to its local community. The overarching concept is “Farm-to-Cone”, reflecting Salt & Straw’s business approach and promise to using all-natural, local ingredients. Print ads feature three of Portland’s famous flavors with hand-lettered typography illustrating what goes into each collaboration. A guerrilla stunt involves Salt & Straw rescuing a dairy cow, which provides the basis for the mobile app where customers can interact with Sadie the Cow. Lastly, a commercial features compiled footage representative of Portland’s nicknames overlaid with hand-lettered typography as Jewel sings “The Portland Song”.
